Locked no more

or should I say blocked no more . . .

I love this old door knob, and I've painted it a few times, along with a dead june bug. In the past it reminded me of an old house and the summer nights of heat and screen doors slamming as kids ran out to chase fireflies.  However this time when I painted it, I saw a lock that was no longer able to restrain someone, keeping someone locked in a house or locking someone out.  The change is my perspective freed me up to use a lot more color than I have in the past versions of this doorknob. It's a celebration of the fact that the lock exists no more, the door is open, there is no restraint.

It was a breakthrough for me as well, and I'm interested to see how it comes through in my next painting. I almost always paint with a lot of color, so this is great.

Thanks for looking, and remember to live creatively!
