Old Faithful

Old Faithful

4" x 5 "

Oil on Panel

This is a spoon I've used for over 25 years. It's been in a lot of hot spots and sticky situations. . . (groan)
I thought it was appropriate to paint it on a panel that's a little on the rough side.

Birthday Rose

Birthday Rose

This is one of the roses from the bouquet that my husband gave me for my birthday. I really should have painted it when it was at the height of its bloom, but maybe this is more apropos.

The Office Clip

The Office Clip

3" x 5"

Oil on Hardwood

"Milton: And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire. "

I'm not sure where that quote came from, but I like it.
If you know the source, please tell me so I can properly attribute it.

Greyhound

4" x 6"

Oil on Panel

To bid on this painting - click here

This is a playful painting of a rescued greyhound.

Proceeds from this painting benefit Central Ohio Greyhound Rescue

"Central Ohio Greyhound Rescue is a nonprofit all volunteer 501 (c) (3) organization that relies solely on fundraising and donations to continue our work. Our goal is promote greyhound adoption in the Central Ohio area. Between the track and their new homes our local greyhounds live in foster homes where "foster parents" help them learn he the facts of home life and become familiar with the personality of each dog. COGR attempts to match dog's temperaments to the lifestyles of the prospective adopters as much as possible. Our goal is to make permanent lifelong placements for our greyhounds where both the adopter and dogs are happy and to provide ongoing support to our greyhounds and adopters after the adoption."

As a side note, yes I know I am being terrible about this daily painting thing. I promise that I am going to get more prolific . . . . that's why I committed publicly . . .

Iris

Iris

8" x 10"

Oil on Panel

This is on the abstract side, and a departure from my 'painting from life' plan. My son wants me to paint from my imagination once in a while, so here is one. It was fun and I plan to do more of this type.

Study in Whites No. 2

Study in Whites No. 2

4" x 6"

Oil on Hardwood Panel

This poor moth went "swimming" in our pool. It's beautiful and so fragile.

Witchery

Out of the purple drifts,
From the shadow sea of night,
On tides of musk a moth uplifts
Its weary wings of white.

Is it a dream or ghost
Of a dream that comes to me,
Here in the twilight on the coast,
Blue cinctured by the sea?

Fashioned of foam and froth --
And the dream is ended soon,
And lo, whence came the moon-white moth
Comes now the moth-white moon!

Dachshund Rescue Charity Auction

Dachshund Charity Painting

4" x 6"

Oil on Hardwood Panel

To bid on painting click here

Ok, this is the first of my charity auctions. We'll see how it goes. I hope it raises some funds for their organization - Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue

(detail)

If you're interested - Click here to bid

Since my commitment is to paint from life for my daily paintings, this was a challenge. They had sent me some photos of dachshunds, and so I thought I'd try some trompe l'oeil (meaning "fool the eye") I think it turned pretty well, although it reminds me of a beer label for some reason. My favorite part is the push-pin LOL

About the Charity:
Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue (CCDR) is a National Non-Profit 501(c)(3), all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing needy Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes from coast to coast. CCDR has been very successful in achieving the goal to find loving families and forever homes for the dogs we've taken in. If you would consider adopting a dachshund and would like more information, please click here. You will not be sorry!

Note from the me: I hope you will seriously consider bidding to help this dachshund rescue group. There are so many dogs that need you and there is not enough help for all of them. This auction is part of my renewed commitment to help rescue groups raise needed funds. If you have a rescue group and would like me to donate a painting to your cause, please visit my website A Portrait For You (aportraitforyou.com) and write me an email telling me about your group. I choose one charity per week to which to donate a painting.

Thanks for your interest!!

The Last Plum

The Last Plum

4" x 6"

Oil on Hardwood Panel

I love the contrast of the red plum against the blue plate.

Note: Maybe I shouldn't have been quite so pleased with yesterday's painting
- seems some people couldn't tell it was a mushroom!

Study in Whites No. 1

4" x 6"

Oil on Hardwood Panel

I am really concentrating on trying to do very realistic, not impressionist paintings. I'm having a really hard time staying with the blah colors LOL

(there is some glare on the left side of the photo that is not on the painting)

And just in case you can't tell, it's a MUSHROOM.
Thanks for checking out my produce section.

The Monster under the Bed

The Monster under the Bed

4"x6"

Oil on Hardwood Panel

Ok, I don't know what is wrong with my picture-taking abilites, but this does not look like a coloring book picture in real life LOL

Anyone with a dog might recognize this little guy, he's my puppy's favorite squeaky toy.

Study in Blues

Study in Blues
4" x 7 3/4"
Oil on Hardwood Panel

If you ever want a painting of dice from me, you'd better get this one - I don't think I'm ever going to do these again LOL . .. this was such a "fiddly" painting, and of course, I was in a hurry. I thought I'd paint something quick and easy - like a matchbox - but we don't smoke and I couldn't even find a matchbook, never mind an interesting matchbox. So I thought, dice are small . . . that should be a quick painting . . . . . ha ha ha . . . never again!!!

Marilyn Monroe Teapot

Marilyn Monroe Teapot
4" x 6 1/2"
Oil on Hardwood Panel
$100

This is my favorite teapot - it reminds me of Marilyn Monroe, complete with beauty mark. This was a very frustrating painting, for one thing I waited until late this evening to start it, and I, of course had to make it more complicated than it already was by adding the striped fabric. One note, for some reason, the shadows appear very purple in this photo - they aren't that purple in the actual painting

- I hope you like it!
